Our Goal

Pima County has graciously allocated the highly visible yet unimproved 2-acre site on the SW corner of Shannon and Magee Roads as the site for the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Park (the Project). We will now be able to create an environment that Christina-Taylor would have loved to visit with her family and friends. It will have many elements that express her personality. The focus will be a quiet central welcoming area with a statue of playful children surrounded by seating. The statue will be encircled by a butterfly garden featuring blossoms of purple- her favorite color. Reaching into the remaining park land will be a meandering “Botanical Trail” with native plants, many labeled to educate the public. Water harvesting principles will be utilized and labeled throughout the park to teach interested parties how to design and conserve our precious water resources. We are requesting your assistance in developing this nodal park, located at a key intersection in NW Tucson within the greater CDO River Park. Although Pima County has made the site and valuable land available for this purpose, municipal funds for construction of park amenities are limited. NRPR will offer skills from their management staff when needed, use of their in-house landscape architect, provide funding for site survey, and supply landscaping materials (native plants, and crushed rock for walkways and stormwater harvesting swales and basins) to make this project happen.  Greg Carlson Engineering will provide engineering services at a reduced rate to stay within budget. This team has worked closely over the last year to provide the attached Concept Plan for the Project.
